We recently planned a trip to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The first night we planned on backpacking into a backcountry site, but were discouraged by forecasted rain. Gear Mom saved the trip by suggesting we pack a second tent for the remaining nights as the rain was forecasted for only one night (thus, ensuring we would have a dry tent). This trick worked well as the balance of the nights were planned for car camping so we were able to stash dry backup gear in our adventure mobile. The point of today’s tip? Being creative can save a weekend adventure and sometimes out-of-the-box thinking is needed to make the most of our limited vacation days from work.
